Mexico's Caribbean coast runs from Cancún south through Playa del Carmen and Tulum to the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. The water is the same turquoise as the islands, but here you also get Maya cities, jungle and thousands of freshwater cenotes.
It pairs naturally with the Cayman Islands, Cuba or Belize, and Cancún is one of the best-connected airports in the region.
Combine it: Fly Cancún–Grand Cayman or Cancún–Havana, or drive south to the Belize border at Chetumal.
